I’ve briefly mentioned how I joined Camp NaNoWRiMo through Kboards, but haven’t mentioned my great cabin mates. We’re an assorted bunch of writers, covering a range of genres in novels, novellas, and short stories.
Without further ado, here are my fellow campers and some of their work.
Christine Pope
About:
Finding the man of your dreams can be a real nightmare…
As the future prima, or head witch of her clan, Angela McAllister is expected to bond with her consort during her twenty-first year, thus ensuring that she will come into her full powers at the appointed time. The clock is ticking down, and her consort has yet to make an appearance. Instead, her dreams are haunted by a man she’s never seen, the one she believes must be her intended match.
But with time running out, and dark forces attempting to seize her powers for their own, Angela is faced with a terrible choice: give up her dreams of the man she may never meet and take the safer path, or risk leaving her clan and everyone in it at the mercy of those who seek their ruin.
Darkangel is the first book in the Witches of Cleopatra Hill, a paranormal romance trilogy set in the haunted town of Jerome, Arizona.
About the Author:
A native of Southern California, Christine Pope has been writing stories ever since she commandeered her family’s Smith-Corona typewriter back in the sixth grade. In addition to writing paranormal romance, she is the author of the bestselling Gaian Consortium SF romance series and the fantasy romance Tales of the Latter Kingdoms series. She fell in love with Sedona, Arizona, while researching the Sedona Trilogy and now makes her home there, surrounded by the red rocks. No alien sightings, though…not yet, anyway!
Why I joined Camp NaNoWRiMo
I like the sense of urgency it gives. I worked for many years in the magazine publishing industry, so I tend to be pretty deadline-focused anyway. NaNo really intensifies the need to write to a deadline, and I also like the support and sense of camaraderie I get from having cabin mates to help cheer me on. I have a pretty grueling release schedule for the next few months, and doing NaNo this July has definitely helped to keep me on track.

R M Nicholls
About:
“I was never charged with my father’s murder.” My voice echoed around the bare room.
“Well, lightning ain’t gonna strike you twice.”Did Ness Stone get away with murdering her father to inherit his billions? According to the media she’s the ‘girl with the face of an angel, but the heart of a killer’. It’s always in inverted commas, an accumulation of fabrications, rumors and innuendo that follow her everywhere. So when she is found hiding near the blood-soaked body of her ex-lover she knows that no-one will believe in her innocence. Her lawyer, Benjamin Christ doesn’t believe that there’s such a thing as innocence. He knows how to win a case with a guilty client. Trouble is, Ness cares more about the truth than she does about her reputation. Her thirst for the truth is going to lead her to a lot of suffering…
A non-stop thrill ride story that takes you from the casinos of Vegas to the beaches of Hawaii with danger and glamour at every turn of the page.
About the Author:
R M Nicholls grew up in the North of England in a coal-mining village. Think of the movie ‘Billy Elliot’ and you’ll get the picture – except she was the girl up at the posh house. She studied in France and Australia but is now a confirmed Londoner – she even blogs about her love for London at thebestthingsinlondonarefree.com. When she’s not writing she works in television. R M Nicholls writes action-led thrillers with a strong female lead for the ‘Clytemnestra Stone’ series. She also writes fantasy adventure for older children under another pen name.
Why I joined Camp NaNoWRiMo:
I love the support and camaraderie of the Nano events – seeing everyone else’s word counts ticking up in the cabin helps me stay motivated. I have two releases scheduled for next month, and Camp is giving me a much-needed boost. The next book in my release schedule is ‘Fury’ under the name Joseph Bryant, which is a fantasy adventure, due to release in August. Also in August I’ll be putting out ‘Heart of Stone’ and ‘Don’t Look Back’ – the next two instalments of my ‘Clytemnestra Stone’ thriller series. ‘Don’t Look Back’ was written as part of Camp – it’s a rip-roaring story with violent gangsters, the ex-boyfriend from Hell and a firestorm of an ending!

Anya Kelly
About:
Warning: This book contains very HOT, erotic scenes between a werewolf and his mate. It is only recommended for mature audiences who can stand the heat!
What is a wolf to do when the need for his mate has gotten out of control? Rolf has known Karina was the one for years, and he’s done waiting. He’ll have her now!
Karina has no idea what’s waiting for her when she goes to visit her grandmother. Instead of her lovely Nana she finds someone much bigger awaiting her arrival. Much much bigger!
Will she be able to handle everything her wolf mate needs? Or will they be unable to complete the mating in time?
About the Author:
I’ve always had these stories running through my head but only recently have I finally put pen to paper, or in my case hand to keyboard. I write erotic stories with Happily Ever After endings, because that is what I adore reading. I love writing a big alpha man who is brought to his knees by his mate. In between guzzling diet coke and writing like a mad woman you can find me hanging out with the local cowboys.
Why I joined Camp NaNoWRiMo:
For Camp NaNoWriMo I’m writing my first novel (if you can call 40,000 words a novel). I have 10 short stories published (ranging from 4,000 words to 12,000), and writing a novel is a completely different experience. It’s been fun and crazy and hair pulling and awesome. I love the idea of “cabin mates” so we can interact with other authors.

Sara C Roethle
About:
Xoe Meyers had a normal life. So she was stuck going to high school, and she only had a few friends to call her own. She liked her normal life. Things were about to change though, because there’s a new guy in her small town, and he is anything but normal. Before Xoe can say, “Werewolf,” her best friend’s life is in peril, and Xoe’s world is turned upside-down. Then, of course, there’s Jason. Xoe doesn’t trust him as far as she can throw him, and given that he’s a vampire, she’d have to be able to catch him first.

About:
A very short story about a young man’s seven life-threatening heart conditions. This story is an introduction to Daniel Wallock’s life story. Daniel Wallock’s full memoir will come out one day. Mercia McMahon
About:
A novel about dealing with the shadows of the past in 21st century Seattle. Martine Brown, a Seattle ex-pat, leaves London after a bereavement-related mental health breakdown to move to Poulsbo, Washington State. First, she is spending November 2013 in Seattle, where she plans to re-visit old haunts, in the hope of recovering her mental health. That plan goes awry, but she finds help from new (and renewed) friendships. Each chapter is a Day in the Month of Martine. As she seeks
to overcome her mental illness she has to confront her loss over the deaths of her mom (2012) and father (1993), especially when breaking into tears on the monorail on the way to the Space Needle. As an interlude to each chapter, there is a talking head short story from a member of one of Seattle’s minority communities talking about the past or present suffering of another Seattle minority community. There is a particular focus on the Japanese American, Native American, and LGBT communities.
The novel was inspired by the 2012 commemorations in Seattle of both the 50th anniversary of the World’s Fair and the 70th anniversary of Japanese Internment and in particular the iconic internment photograph of Fumiko Hayashida holding her daughter while she waits to be taken by ferry to Seattle from Bainbridge Island and onto a concentration camp. There is a strong rock music theme with The 20th anniversary of Kurt Cobain’s suicide, the AIDS-related death of Freddie Mercury, and the London and Seattle lives of Jimi Hendrix featuring prominently in Martine’s storyline. Chief Seattle of the Suquamish and Duwamish tribes is also a key reference point.
