For the past few days, I’ve been immersed in researching Scotland and its many beautiful sights. It’s gotten to the point where I’m a click away from purchasing a plane ticket to get me there.
I’ve been reading up online about the different cities and I’m still torn between Aberdeen, Edinburgh, and Glasgow. Ideally, I’d love to include a visit the highlands but I’m not sure if I can find someone to accompany me. It’s tough finding someone who has the same schedule as me and also wants to spend it in the middle of nowhere enjoying the sights.
I’ve realized over time that my idea of a vacation is not shared by my most of my close friends. They prefer the hustle and bustle of cities, where they can shop and dine at the latest “It” places and then return to the country to brag about it. And I just want to relax and spend time away from civilization.
One of the benefits of living in Kuwait is that you can always find someone who has been to the place you’re thinking of visiting. Kuwaitis & the expats who live in Kuwait tend to be a well-traveled bunch. I’ve gotten contacts of people who studied in Scotland to get their opinions on where to go and what to do and see. A friend of mine insisted I visit Edinburgh in August. He said that’s when their Fringe Festival takes place. He loves it so much, he’s been attending for the past few years.
Have you been to Scotland? Where and when should I go? And what should I make an effort to see?
